Preschool

Our Early Childhood Program provides enriching activities in an environment that encourages children to be creative thinkers, active explorers and good problem solvers. The children are busy each morning with teacher-directed as well as self-selected activities.

The preschool program day is from 9:00 to 12:30, which includes time for snack and lunch. The class size is approximately 12 to 14 students with a Lead and an Assistant Teacher.

We have two different classes in this program: the Two-Day and the Three-Day programs.

With nature at their fingertips, children in the Free Union Country School early childhood program spend plenty of time exploring both indoors and out – through enriching activities that encourage them to be creative thinkers, active explorers, and problem solvers. These outdoor experiences enhance classroom time throughout the year. The pattern of the seasons leads to patterning with beads, weaving, art, and dance. Visual patterns are used for teaching rhythm, rhyme, and songs using guitar, violin, ukulele, and other instruments. Music is an integral part of the preschool program.

In a nurturing environment, children develop the all important skills of communicating with each other, solving conflicts, and expressing feelings. These are skills that will serve them well as they enter elementary school.

Our richly textured curriculum includes both math and language skills through concrete, hands-on experiences that foster a love of learning.
